5 of My Fav Comfort Movies

...just spent the last week working from home with a cold, so I figured it’s the perfect time to list my favourite comfort movies...

Pride & Prejudice
The OG ‘enemies-to-lovers’ romance. I honestly don’t know what it is about this movie that makes it so re-watchable for me, maybe the tension, the time period or maybe just the fact that I love nearly everything that Keira Knightley is in. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s definitely one I love to put on when I’m sitting home alone, rugged up on my couch.

10 Things I Hate About You
This has to be in my top 5 favourite movies of all time. I don’t think I could ever actually say no to watching this movie. I watched it a lot growing up so it definitely holds a bit of nostalgia for myself, but it also has that charm of 90s rom coms that movies these days just can’t quite seem to capture. Plus watching Heath Ledger for 97 minutes is never something to complain about.

Footloose
Not only do I love to see Miles Teller in a movie, but Footloose is such a fun rollercoaster of emotions. If you over-look the ridiculousness of dancing and music being outlawed, you’ll find yourself enjoying almost every minute of it. I’m still to learn the steps to the line-dancing scene, but I’ve vowed to one day.

The Lion King
I stipulate that this is the best Disney movie in existence. Controversial, I know. But this movie is my childhood – my mother can attest that I used to watch this movie back-to-back nearly every day for a good while there. And yes, I still cry every time Mufasa gets trampled on by the stampede and Simba calls out for help.

Tomorrow When the War Began
A good Aussie film. I feel like most non-Americans would probably agree that we’re fed a lot of American television/media and are so used to their accents or their cultural differences, that there’s something so refreshing in hearing familiar voices or being able to relate to certain humour. It’s also – in my opinion – a fantastic adaptation of the book series.
