Surprise surprise, I’ve fallen into a bit of a reading slump over the last few weeks. Thankfully though, over the easter long weekend and ANZAC public holiday, I’ve had some time off work and out of town which was the perfect excuse to do a bit of reading. One thing that I’ve discovered recently, is that when on holiday I LOVE reading mystery-thrillers. It’s a genre that I’ve wanted to get into for a long time, and I finally think it's starting to stick! Over the last two weeks, I read x2 books, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but after a reading slump it’s a dream come true.

That’s Not My Name by Megan Lally

This was a pretty good read, though I can’t lie it was a little slow in the beginning. I pushed on through however because I was eager to know how everything would play out and I’m glad I stuck around. Although the ending seems like it would be clear from the beginning, I found myself in shock and completely duped by the ending. I’m a big believer in the ending of a plot making up for anything that was lacking previously.

The Only One Left by Riley Sager

I absolutely LOVED this book. Not only was it refreshing to read about an MC that was a little older than my usual reads, but the twists and turns in this plot were great. There were a couple of things that were predictable but because of the number of twists, it really kept me on the edge of my seat. It was one of those books that stay in your mind for days afterward. From a writer’s point of view, I really appreciate the subtle foreshadowing and the way everything falls into place at the end.
